Scott Micale plays flatpick guitar, and sings with the Grateful Dudes

Scott Micale plays flatpick guitar and sings tenor and lead with the Grateful Dudes.  Scott is one of the fastest guitar pickers west of the Mississippi, and often plays banjo, fiddle, and mandolin breaks on his guitar.

Musical History

  • As Scott puts it, "I started playing bluegrass at the age of seventeen, when a friend of mine dragged me to see some old blind guy named Doc Watson. I had been playing electric guitar up to that point. I sold my electric guitar and bought an acoustic guitar that week."

  • "The first Bluegrass album I bought was a Bluegrass Cardinals album with Bill and Dennis on it.  I first started playing with Dennis in a pick-up band in 1979."

  • Scott has played with Rodger (Phillips) since 1981, in the Pacific Light Opry, LA Dogs, and High Strung before leaving those bands to form the current Grateful Dudes with Rodger.

When Scott slows down to a lower energy state, he is also a support engineer for a nuclear medicine technology company.
